Judiciary The judiciary is the system of courts that interprets and applies the law in the name of the state. The judiciary also provides a mechanism for the resolution of disputes.
One of the major functions of the judiciary is to interpret and apply laws to specific cases. In the course of deciding the disputes that come before it, the judges interpret and apply laws. Every law needs a proper interpretation for getting applied to every specific case.
Yet another purpose of the judiciary is to uphold the law that is consistent with the constitution. Judiciaries have the responsibility of handing down to those who enforce the law various sanctions for when the law has been broken.
