GIVING [ˈɡiviNG]
give
What does giving mean to you? We often think of giving in terms of money and one's ability to give a certain amount. But the act of giving means so much more. It means time, attention, compassion, presence, wisdom and a multitude of other things. And better yet, it's available to each and every person. We believe the act of giving, in any context, can inspire us all to live a life of generosity and abundance.
The expression “something is a given” or “that is a given” is used when someone says something that is a basic fact and which is accepted as true by all. When something that is totally and obviously true or certain is said then the expression “that is a given” is uttered.
It means that something's really obvious in a certain situation. When someone says, "Yeah, well, that's pretty much a given," they mean "yeah, well that's kind of obvious." 1 0
